New Year's Eve

My style vision for the new year includes lots of peplum, polkadots, and pretty knits and prints. As for tonight, this outfit is as dressed up as it's going to get. My plans involve laying on the couch by a fire with my family and sipping sparklig apple cider at the stroke of twelve.

Wishing for a White Christmas

Here it is! The first outfit post in a long, long time! That means lots of new clothing pieces in outfit posts to come! One thing you all will be seeing a lot of is peplum everything. I kind of went through a bit of an obsession and am still continuing with that. I have yet to get a peplum dress but I have enough peplum tops and skirts to last a life time!

 

As you can see the weather is the same as most here in Washington. If the temperature would just drop six or so degrees we'd have feet upon of snow! I'm still holding out for a white Christmas though!

Glitter, sparkle, glisten, shine, so many words to decribe my obsession this holiday season! Pinterest is blowing up with all things glitter and my eyes are constantly darting from one photo to the next. I recently picked up a cream, metalic threaded, longsleeve top from Macy's and am loving the layering possibilities! Stay tuned for an outfit post! 

Star Light, Star Bright

Stars and constellations and the whole concept of space fascinates me. I love stargazing. In the summer as well as winter, when it's not cloudy, and as long as I have a pile of blankets on me! I've actually seen quite a few shooting stars but the other night I saw a most peculiar one. At first I was doubtful but I have concluded I witnessed a "falling star", it didn't shoot across the sky, it fell. I'm not sure how that happened, it calls for some googleing but I think it's just another reason why the sky is amazing.

I have been finding a ridiculous amount of inspiration from outfits with hats recently, as you all can tell. As a result, this has been moved to the top of my "to buy" list.

This whole week has been full of wonderful rainy days! I was beginning to miss the rain after the eighty days without it! I found this trench coat just in time, I've worn four times this week already! 







From One Extreme to Another

The past week the weather has been playing games with me, in the morning it's freezing cold and I'm reaching for every sweater in my closet, then right about 12:30 in the afternoon the sun is beating down on me and I suddenly wish I would've worn shorts. So taking that into consideration, I decided to wear a skirt the other day, I walk outside and the grass and roofs are covered with frost. What is this! I suppose as long as this weather keeps up I'll be trying to figure it out. On the other hand, at least it isn't grey and rainy!

Gorgeous fall weather! I can't get enough of it! It's been so nice being able to layer my clothing! To celebrate the first week of fall I thought I'd share four of my favorite examples of great layering!

Tea Time

I had a wonderful Saturday with my friend Petra! We enjoyed pink colored tea made from hibiscus, lavender, and rose buds, and worked on some DIY's. Our projects required two trips to the fabric store as we realized we had forgotten one of the supplies, and at least double the estimated time, as most DIY projects do. Petra made a circle skirt out of a gorgeous linen and I made two wonderful velvet bows! I hope you enjoy the photos from our lovely afternoon!

New Favorites and Discoveries

I. Love. These. Shoes. I posted about these about a few months ago and once again I had to play the waiting game. They were backordered. Sound familiar? I love incorporating ballet elements into everyday outfits! They are so dainty and graceful I just love wearing them! Anytime I see so called "ballet flats" now they seem like posers compared to my legit ballet flats! Ha!  

 

Now refering to the second photo, I was playing around with my earrings and the collar of one of my shirts and creative genius struck. Can I use earrings as collar studs? A minute later... Yes! Yes I can! I now look over at my massive collection of earrings... SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! Ha! Oh the joy of new discoveries!



The Sweetness of Summer

Blackberries are one of my favorite berries out there. I probably say that about every kind of berry during its season but none the less, blackberries are wonderful! Anything they're in, cobblers, pies, cheesecakes, sauces, I love them all.

I took these photos a few weeks ago and I was just reminded of them while I was helping my mom with a blackberry sauce for the cheesecake in the fridge. After reading that last sentence I realized I'm seriously the luckiest girl in the world tonight.

Season Transitions, Bicycles, and Collars

One, I've been loving pairing cozy sweaters with pretty, flowy skirts. It's the perfect transition outfit from Summer to Fall. Two, bicycling is such a fun past time! Any picture of a bike seems magical. Three, you can't beat layering with collars. Wearing a collared shirt underneath sweaters or another shirt adds the perfect touch to any outfit!
