Bittersweet

Though part of me is longing for the cozy sweaters and layering that comes with fall, I know I'm going to miss the simplicity of throwing on a favorite pair of shorts and an easy top. I suppose the transition from summer to fall will always be bittersweet, as it is for any season!

On a side note, I am SO happy to announce that I've purchased a camera!! I bought  a Canon Rebel T3 and couldn't be happier with it! Finally, I can retire my well-loved point and shoot and finally, there will be consistently good photo quality here on Short and Sweet!

The Sweetness of Doing Nothing

Mixed feelings always come with August. There's the excitement of a new school year and new pencils and back to school shopping!! And then you realize that in school you actually have to do things, like... work. I know, I just killed the wonderful butterflies of happiness from the first part of that sentence. Ah well, I am determined to make the most of the rest of my summer. My plans: go to the lake, buy a new camera (!!!), and most important, do nothing.

I did a kids fashion post last summer, and when I discovered Tiffany Beveridge's "My Imaginary Well-Dressed Toddler Daughter" board on Pinterest, I thought it was high time for another. 

I compiled some of my favorite photos from her board into this collage. There are so many outfits I want to recreate, but beware of being overwhelmed with adorableness! And now, I will leave you to swoon over this cutie...

Summer calls for all things light-weight and easy to throw on, which sums up this dress perfectly! It's been my go to outfit for especially hot days and trips to the beach. Who needs anything fancy when your days have been consisting of lazy mornings and trips for coffee or thrifting in the afternoon? After rereading that last sentence I just rediscovered my love for summertime. Anyone else?

Longing for the Ocean

Whenever summer rolls around I always wish I lived on a beach in California. The coast in Washington is just as beautiful, just not as warm! I love the ocean for so many reasons, swimming, rock collecting, and gazing out over the endless water.

I bought these high-waisted swim bottoms and a similar bandeau top for this summer's swimsuit. I love the retro look of it and am hoping that I'll be able to sport it on several trips to the Pacific Ocean this summer! 

City Lover

It's been just one day without them and I'm already missing my sisters like crazy! The other thing I'm missing is the city. There's just something wonderful and magical about it!

I just realized that everything about this outfit is new to the blog except for the shoes! I've been wanting to DIY a pair of distressed shorts for years! When I found a pair of dark-wash, vintage Guess jeans I knew they were perfect for the project!

There are a few other pieces I purchased while in Minneapolis that I will be featuring soon. I can't help but buy a million things when I visit because there are so many more shopping opportunities than where I live in Washington! Now that vacation's over I suppose I better save my money for a while...

Climate Change

I am back in Minneapolis! Visiting my sisters is always fun but this time my whole family packed up the car and drove from Washington to Minnesota! This past week has been so full of family time which I have missed so much! 

Now as for what I'm wearing: in 80 and 90 degree weather, shorts, tank-tops, and dresses are the only outfit options. On one hand, I've finally been able to break out my summer clothes! On the other, it has been so hot.
