Moments

This evening I was going through photos on my phone from this past year and came across so many gems, eight of which, I am sharing here. I find myself at the end of each year wondering what I actually did with the past 365 days, so even though I can't have my camera out all the time, I'm very happy I have the opportunity to capture moments as they happen. Although photos can never encapsulate the aroma of an exceptional meal, the sound of laughter, or the feeling of excitement with a new adventure, I'm happy to have them to trigger memories of a lovely moment.

This has been a such a wonderful year full of lovely people and new adventures. I'm so thankful for the people in my life including all of you that read my blog or follow me along on Instagram. I'm happy to say one of my resolutions for this year is to create/write more meaning I will be blogging on here more and getting involved with some exciting projects!

Here's to an amazing year!

Edge and Angst

Urban Outfitters top, Kut from the Kloth jacket, Forever 21 skirt, Target tights, thrifted bag, Macy's sneakers

It's always interesting to see your personal style evolve. I remember when I was too afraid to wear scarves purely for fashion purposes in middle school and now I'm rocking a leather jacket like nobody's business. I always thought a leather jacket would be too edgy for my but lately I've been throwing some edge and teen angst into every outfit. My favorite way to do that is putting button pins on everything. Bonus points if they're Bikni Kill or feminist button pins! I found some of my favorites from the Modern Girl Blitz Etsy shop.

Dear Santa

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful this collage is? If I could just wear this outfit and tote around this Alexa Chung book forever I'd be 100% okay with that. I love the different textures each of the pieces bring to this outfit and of course, the color palette.

What are you all wishing for?

Workwear Casual

Old Navy cardigan, thrifted top and bag, H&M slacks, Converse sneakers

One morning a few months ago I decided I needed a pair of black work pants in my life. I don't know if this happens to anyone else but sometimes I get a thought like that in my head (i.e. "my life will not be complete without a pair of black work pants") and I will search and search for the perfect and affordable match. Anyway, I found these at H&M for $25 and am so, so happy with them. I love pairing these professional pants with a white t-shirt and sneakers for a casual workwear look!

Minneapolis

This post is long overdue, but I thought I'd do a bit of a wrap-up of my trip to Minneapolis last month. I went to visit my two older sisters Caitlin and Chelsea for a lovely ten days of new coffee shops, shopping, and lying around talking. I never would have thought how hard it is for your sisters to live so far away so I'm always looking forward to when I can see them next!

I was so lucky this trip to get to be behind the scenes of two Bow and Arrow Magazine shoots. I helped Chelsea style the first shoot and helped with a little bit of everything during the cover shoot pictured above. It was SO lovely meeting the ladies behind a magazine I've been following for so long and to meet all the people making these photos as beautiful as they are. Make sure and check out the latest issue of BAM for the actual stories

I had the pleasure of meeting my long-time blog friend Mary (left) and her sister Ann (right) at the Mall of America while I was there! Mary and I have been blog friends for a couple years now so it was so nice to meet her wonderful, lovely self in person!

I also got to meet the lovely and amazingly talented photographer Alex of Alex Anne Photography. We talked over coffee at the Spyhouse Coffee on Nicollet and walked around snapping photos with Canons, iPhones, and Instax cameras. Check out the photos Alex took of me over on her blog! Meeting both these inspiring girls was so fun and I'm so happy I got to meet and talk to them in person!

A major part of my stay was spent lounging around at Caitlin's adorable new house. Making food, drinking tea, playing guitar, talking, and being silly. All of these being things we consistently do when we're together.

This was quite the long post but I hope you enjoyed the recap! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

All Denim

pictures link to source

Denim is such a staple in my everyday wardrobe but I'm always reminded of just how wonderful it is when the back-to-school season rolls around. I've loved the denim on denim look for a while and have been trying to bring a variety denim pieces into my closet without defaulting to jeans. I just found the perfect pair of overalls at H&M and am dying to style them, but I will have to wait until the weather allows!

Blue, the Most Human Color

Thrifted top, sandals, and bag, Target skirt, Urban Outfitters sunglasses

I don't know if anyone will catch the title's reference to the Regina Spektor song, but it's all I've been singing while working on this post!

Some of you may already know I'm currently in Minneapolis!! I'm always so happy when I'm able to visit my sisters, Caitlin and Chelsea, in this lovely city! I've only been here two days, but they have already been filled with plenty of shopping, doughnuts from Bogart's, and coffee! I can't wait for all the rest we have planned! Make sure to follow me on Instagram if you'd like to follow along!

Back to School

Forever 21 sunglasses, handmade necklace, thrifted top, shorts, and bag, Target sandals

Ha! Just kidding. I don't go back for two months. But, I went a little crazy at my local Value Village's fifty percent off sale buying long sleeves, a thick wool jacket, and this little leather bag (???) just in time for this week of eighty degree weather (???). My seasons may be a bit off shopping wise but I'm enjoying this summer weather so much! Nothing beats being able to throw on cut-offs, a white t-shirt, and sandals and calling it an outfit.
